So it's like playing in that dichotomy of the different roles that I play.

OK, so let's get into our first little segment here.

I want to talk about pivoting and not being afraid to use that word.

So I think right off the top, what I want to say is that entrepreneurship is essentially just a game of when am I going to have to pivot?

And pivoting isn't failure.

Pivoting is growth.

If you think about day one, when you started your business, maybe you've been in business for six months or six years or 20 years.

I can nearly guarantee you that you've had to pivot and that it's not the same business that you started with.

I know for me, I started this as a social media freelancer where I literally like created Instagram posts for people and posted them on their Instagram.

And I did their metrics and I did their strategy and I had about four or five clients at any given time.

That is not at all where my business is at today.

It's taken so many left turns and right turns and we've gone backwards, we've accelerated forwards.

But pivoting is so normal and I almost wish I could let you guys in on the chat that I have with two of my business besties.

You've probably heard me talk about Steph and Krista.

We have such a cool chat where it's on Marco Polo.

So it's video and audio and we're always just sharing like what's going on in our heads.

And some seasons feel so hard and some seasons we question ourselves and some seasons we're like what is working you guys, cause what we did last year is not performing this year, it's not bringing in the same revenue.

And then there are other times where it's like, I just hosted this event and it did really well.

I just hosted a podcast summit and got 500 subscribers to my newsletter list.

I just took the entire month off and the business grew.

And it's so inspiring that we can share the highs, but we can also be really real about the lows.

And especially in those times when you feel like you just want to throw your hands up because you're like, I don't know what's going on.

We encourage each other to look in a different direction and shift if necessary.

And to be so excited about evolving the business versus feeling resistant.

And I think that our normal instinct is to feel resistance.

But sometimes we just need those sounding boards, those friendships, those mastermind peers that say, hey, so yeah, you might be lagging in this part of the business.

But if you just look to this other area, there's so much opportunity, there's hidden revenue, there's low hanging fruit.

And we go from there.

I guess the reason why I wanted to start with this story is just because I know in these times a lot of people are asking like how do I continue this business if it's not performing the way I want it to?

And instead of asking that question, I just want you to ask what pivots can I make?

In order to test something new, like, can I make a slight pivot on my offer?

Can I make a slight pivot on how I'm marketing?

Can I make a slight pivot on the people that I'm connecting with and who could potentially help me?

And just know that it's super, super normal.

Being static is usually equivalent to dying.

And when we think about stagnation in a pond or something, that's when you start to see all the bacteria grow.

You want to keep flow.

You want to keep momentum in whatever you're doing.

And sometimes that just means shaking it up, talking to new people, putting yourself in new rooms.

OK, let's get into my next update, my next topic.

Speaking of pivoting and always looking for the opportunities, I decided to take a couple really big bets on myself this year and they've all happened.

All the expenses are coming out in May essentially, so.

If you are new to my community, or if you haven't really listened to a lot of my solo episodes before, then you may not know that I actually take about 10 to 15% of my business revenue every single year and I reinvest it in myself.

We are being so selfish every single year.

We are making the founder of the business go do scary things.

And I'm actually talking about myself, but things that I've never done before, things that put me in rooms where I literally want to close my eyes and crawl in a hole because I'm like, I do not belong here.

I just invested in two really major experiences.

So the first one, I'm actually going to be getting on a plane and going to the US and learning something that is so out of my comfort zone with people who are.

Well, most of them have businesses bringing in a million or over.

I will definitely be sharing more as the details come together, but I barely belong on in this room, so I don't even know how I got accepted.

But I think the fact that I have butterflies in my stomach, that I'm nervous, that I know it's going to stretch me in ways that I don't like to be stretched cause we're gonna be talking about money, we're gonna be talking about sales.

I kind of know that this is where a major leap is about to happen.

And that's always how it works, right?

It's those times when your heart skips a beat where you know that you're going to be the quote UN quote, most junior or dumbest person in the room.

And I think that's the right room to be in.

So that's my first bet on myself this year or investment in myself.

And the other thing was I have just joined a 12 month mastermind.

Two entrepreneurs that I've been following forever who they've always had just a high level mastermind for people who are in the million and above range.

They've now launched another one for people who are looking to scale to seven figures.

And I just know that I have a very clear goal going into this.

The investment was not small, it was upwards of five figures, but I do think that there's a 10X ROI in each of these investments.

I was actually chatting with a friend about this, how anytime you invest in yourself, it's scary because there's no guarantee that you will make that money back.

So say you're about to buy a $300.00 course on how to use ChatGPT to write your emails.

Well, that's a lot of money to put on the line, first of all.

Second of all, there is no guarantee, even though you'd love to ask the person like, well, what do I get out of this?

You don't get anything if you don't actually do the work and implement and test and iterate.

But if you go in with the mindset of I cannot wait to learn when I'm inspired and when I'm learning, I'm able to contribute back to my communities in a different way.

I don't know about you, but anytime I don't have anything to talk about or e-mail about or post about, it's because I'm not learning or I'm not traveling or I've hit a dead end.

I have to go do something for myself, put money on the line, get in a different room.

And then all of a sudden you're just like lit up and inspired and you attract the right clients.

There are seasons of momentum where you will just feel like you're emitting an energy that is magnetic.

I want that for all of you.

And that often comes with investing in yourself and putting putting time or energy and intention into a new space or a new place.

So I'd love to know, is there an area where you feel you need to stretch yourself right now?

Is there an area where you feel like you could bet big on yourself and really just go for it?

Because there is so much magic that awaits you if you're willing to explore the edges of where you're currently feeling like maybe you're outgrowing or hitting a plateau in any one area.

OK, let's pivot into another behind the scenes of what's been going on.

So as some of you might know, I'm the primary parent in the relationship.

Like my husband and I are both all in dialed in.

He does a lot of the evenings for me, but I work my schedule around Freddy.

I'm the full time Mama.

My husband is out of the house about 5055 hours a week.

So oftentimes the.

The structure of our week is revolving around me being.

At home, if that makes sense.

So primary parent, not that I'm doing like more of the work, but it's just that I'm the one home and we do have two days of daycare and I have nap times, but it's not easy.

If you are a working parent, you know that it is a stretch.

And like I said, my husband is out of the house Monday through Friday, so there's really not a lot of support that I can just lean on if I need to duck out for 20 minutes or have a 5 minute shower or anything of that nature.

I actually went biking on Saturday, so the day before Mother's Day, I thought that that would be the best treat for myself because as you guys know, I love mountain biking.

I love escaping to a really cool area of bike trails called Turkey Point.

And it's my dream day.

I love driving up there.

I love getting on the bike, enjoying it, and then hanging out after.

Well, this Saturday was not that.

So I from the get-go was just feeling like my legs were already a bit heavy.

But you know, that normally doesn't stop me from enjoying a bike ride.

So we get in the car, we drive all the way to Turkey Point.

It's an hour away.

And I start biking and my mind was just not in it.

I don't know if you've ever had to fight a battle with yourself for 2 1/2 hours when you want to be having fun, right?

Like, what is the point of getting on a bike?

It's to have fun.

I'm not training for the Olympics.

I'm not trying to become a professional.

I'm trying to enjoy a few hours.

Of being in nature on my bike, doing my favorite hobby in the world.

But for some reason the mental game just wasn't there and I was down on myself.

I was on a different bike because mine is currently in repair.

I was feeling like physically tired, even though you know, I like I was well rested.

I hadn't been working out too too much that week.
17:33
But I honestly just think being a mom is like.
17:35
An athletic pursuit in its own that deserves to send me to the Olympics, like chasing around a 1 1/2 year old and taking him on park dates and then walking the dog and trying to get my own workouts in.

Like even just at the end of the day when I'm not doing like structured activities, I still feel tired.

So anyways, there was just a whole multitude of factors and it took everything in me on Saturday not to break down and cry and give up and say I'm going home and.

To I just wanted to pull out so bad.

But I learned something so powerful from these moments.

Like, first of all, you're not always winning in life.

You're not always winning in your athletic sport.

You're not always winning in business.
18:19
You can't expect to be on a high high all of the time.

Not even Olympians would have that experience #2.

Even sometimes when you bring yourself back to the baseline of I should be having fun.

You can just be having an off day and it's OK to admit that.

And that's one of my regrets from Saturday is that I just tried to be like, so positive when really I think I just needed 10 minutes to cry, to stop riding, to not try to keep up with all my friends and to just say it's OK, like I'm not having the best day, but I don't need to keep stuffing it down.

Like perhaps I just need to let it out.

And to remind myself that it's those days that I do think produce resilience.

So the hard days in athletics, the hard days in business, I think they're just as important as the good days because that's where you really meet the depths of who you are.

That's when you really see yourself in this like raw, just vulnerable state.

When things are not going well, when your mental game is off, when your physical game is off, when you are just fighting every single second with your own mindset, with that voice that says just quit.

And quitting sometimes is actually the right move.

But in this case, I I wanted to just show myself like you can keep going.

You don't need to throw a little fit here, but.

It's OK to also admit that this is not your day and that you're allowed to just be sad for whatever reason is causing this sadness.

In closing off this random solo catch up episode, I want to share something that I've been talking about a lot with my private clients and on a couple trainings that I've delivered, and that's to decomplicate some of your marketing.

I know that marketing can feel overwhelming, writing long blog posts and getting out your weekly newsletter and showing up to events and teaching workshops and all the things.

I want to ask you though, like how could you make this so simple that it would?

Bring the ease and joy back into your marketing.

And here's what I mean by this.

So sometimes when we're writing a weekly e-mail newsletter, we think it has to be like this big long newsletter with images and graphics and clickable links and paragraphs and intros and lists and bullet points and all the things when sometimes maybe what's actually on our heart is just to share a quote.

And so you could literally say, hey guys, no big e-mail this week, but this quote stopped me dead in my tracks and I wanted to share it with you.

Share the quote, be done with the e-mail or send an e-mail that says, hey, we have just four spots left for massage appointments in May.

Would you like to book one of them?

So simple, right?

Or you want to post on social media, but you're like, I don't know what to talk about.

Why not just talk about your everyday life?

Like, literally just turn the camera on yourself.

Whatever you're looking at, whatever you're eating, whatever your next activity is, just share that in real time.

And and don't worry about whether it is exactly in line with your content schedule or the strategy, because sometimes people just want to see the human behind the business.

So it's really applying this mindset of like, what can I do that is so simple?

Or anytime you're caught thinking like, oh, I don't know how to do this launch or oh, how do I fill my master class or fill this program?

Instead of ruminating for hours or days or weeks, what about asking a few peers?

What about touching base with some of your, you know, most savvy, generous entrepreneur friends and saying.

Hey guys, I have four out of 10 spots still left in my group coaching program.

Can we do a quick 10 minute brainstorm on how to fill them?

I think we've become so used to just not leaning on others and feeling like we have to do it all alone, which is such a detriment, especially in business, because somebody else has already done it.

Someone's walked the path and so the easiest way to move through any sort of sticky situation.

Is to just find the answer through somebody who's already navigated it or who can introduce you, who has one connection that will actually just change the course of the challenge that you're facing.

I think This is why I'm particularly passionate about building community, whether you're part of the visionary community, whether you're part of the Wave Mastermind community, whether you've come out to the events that I co-host here in Ontario, Canada.

So who can you ask for help in this moment versus continuing to walk down a path by yourself trying to search for the answer that somebody else could share with you in, you know, 5 seconds or less.
