This is perfect for any entrepreneur or business owner who feels stuck or stagnant with their current marketing strategy, and who wants to be challenged to think bigger and to figure out their next big move to increase revenue.

Marketing Breakthroughs can look like:

  1. Identifying that Direct Response Marketing works REALLY well for you

  2. SEO taking off, and focusing exclusively on your Google Search Rankings

  3. Knowing that 1:1 works better than 1:Many for converting leads into paying clients etc.

  • You're listening to the visionary life podcast. I'm your host, Kelsey Reidl.

Each week, I'll bring you conversations with the most visionary humans on this earth, in hopes that you'll be able to absorb their wisdom, avoid their failures and feel less alone on the roller coaster ride that is entrepreneurship.

This season, I'll be chatting with creative thinkers, masterful marketers, brick and mortar shop owners, brand builders, and people just like you who have a story to share or a vision that inspires if I can share one quick secret with you before we get into the episode is that we all have a little bit of visionary inside of us, you know, that spark that nudges us to pursue our full potential in this lifetime. But perhaps somewhere along the line, it got covered up, I'm here to tell you that it's never too late to explore that inner voice and access the brilliance deep down inside of you. It's in you, it's in all of us.

Let's dive in. Hey, visionaries. Welcome back to the podcast. This is a little mini episode today on the topic of having a marketing breakthrough. If you are a online business owner, a course creator, you have a digital product, a service, an offer a physical clinic, you know that marketing is a big task, and it can feel overwhelming. And a lot of people come to me and they say I just have no idea what's working, where to begin, what to fix, what to optimize. And the good news is, there is a simple system for it. And you can reach out to me if you ever want to chat. But the other thing is sometimes it's about identifying what's already working, where are the results coming from? And how can you double down or 10x the results that you're getting from the marketing efforts that are producing money and income for your business. So we have to do a little bit of detective work a little bit of analysis. And today I'm actually sharing a clip from a recent mastermind session.

As you might or might not know, I do host a mastermind for entrepreneurs who are scaling their businesses. This is for women only a lot of the women are moms, they have families, they are wives, they have tons of hobbies, they are high performing and driven. And they are also unapologetic about wanting to make their business really big so that they can have freedom and independence and really tap into their own most visionary life. You can see more details at Kelsey rattle.com/mastermind. So in today's special episode, first, I just kind of want to share just a quick little recording from the mastermind recently where we talk about why this group is so epic, and why you probably want to get inside of it. It's like a magical referral network. So I grabbed a clip from that. And then we're gonna go straight into talking about marketing breakthroughs and what they are, and some examples of where breakthroughs are happening in advertising and in society as a whole right now. And the questions that I want to leave you with are number one, where are the majority of your current clients finding you? And number two, how can you actually look at that and say, if I wanted to have a breakthrough of 10, axing my results from this marketing effort, what would I have to do?

And so we actually discuss this in the remainder of our mastermind, I obviously can't share that, because what we talked about in the mastermind remains private. But if this does intrigue you, you may want to apply to become part of our mastermind, Kelsey rydell.com/mastermind. This is where we're doing the big thinking that you really don't get anywhere else. And it is such a special group of women. And if you relate to me in any way, if you vibe with the content that I share, you might find yourself at home in this group that meets every single Wednesday. So without further ado, let's get into a quick clip from the mastermind and the importance of being part of these referral networks. And then we'll do marketing breakthroughs. So thanks for tuning in. And I will see you guys next week.

People who are very generous in their connections that the abundance always comes back so thank you, everyone, you're connecting we want everyone was I really believe in that law of attraction, you win, we win. We all win. You know, none of us have to compete. It's like when one of us wins, we're all gonna win. So thank you for the way you show up for celebrating you. And you just keep doing your magical thing downtown because it's very magnetic.

And I think that's one of the best parts about being in this group like every week. I look at you all, and you are all top of mind for me. And I'm sure you guys feel that way too. It's like we have this beautiful referral network. And as we start to get to know each other better, the referrals almost just become so easy because like, you know, when somebody tells me they want to go to Italy, but they want to go next month, and they need help planning, I'm going straight to Kelly MacDonald, like, I don't know any other travel agents who do customized Tinder. So it's just, it's easy referrals, all of you being here and showing up and continuing to engage. And I think that's the magic of a group like this. So yeah, it's really special. Today, I want to help each of you to have a breakthrough. So what is a marketing breakthrough? Well, it can be identified a few different ways. First off, I want to kind of just share what I see as a breakthrough. So I literally just pulled the definition.

But I'm going to share some examples, personally, and then I'm going to call on a few of you to just share some of your marketing breakthroughs. So when we think of the word breakthrough, the word an advance comes to mind. So sometimes, there are moments in our marketing, where we feel like this surge of energy, maybe, for example, with Emily Fraser, identifying that she wanted to hire a paid ads manager, this might be a huge advancement for her, this could be a marketing breakthrough for her business. A marketing breakthrough can also be a first notable success. So sometimes in marketing, we kind of do the thing over and over. It's like, Okay, Coach told me, I should send an email twice per week. And once in a while, I should have a call to action. And you do have it, and you practice patience. But then sometimes the success actually comes through. And it actually gives you a breakthrough that if I keep doing this, I can keep making money or keep driving sales. I remember for me, I didn't do marketing automation for the first couple years of my business, whereby people would opt in and then they would get a C series of emails that would just drip to them.

And this one time, I decided, okay, I need to finally set up my automation because I was launching the visionary method. I had a cohort starting September 10. And I was like, I really want to get 10 people through the door. Problem was I was going on a five day back country Algonquin trip where I was going to have no service, I wasn't going to be actively engaged in like the key five days leading up to the start time. So I was like, Okay, well, I'm gonna do this automation thing. I haven't taken it seriously yet. I was just sending live emails. But I decided I'm going to send us a five series email drip. And as I paddled out of Algonquin had been off the grid for five days, I turn on my service, I had three sales at $1,500, all from an email automation. And I was like, holy, like, I didn't do anything. I worked hard on the back end. I set up all these emails, I wrote them, I poured my heart into them. I had the payment link setup. I had the deadline, I had the promo code. But that was like the first notable success. So a marketing breakthrough personally in that moment was set up automations for every single launch. So it could be a breakthrough of that sorts. And breakthrough could also mean moving through or beyond an obstacle obstacle. So maybe you've realized that your Instagram feed posts, they're not performing like they used to? And you're starting to think okay, so this used to work for me. Now, it's not like you're met with an obstacle. But did people stop using Instagram? No. Are they spending more time on stories in reels in the DMS?

Probably so it takes having that epiphany and moving through the obstacle you're facing to say, Okay, I need to optimize what I'm doing. Because what I've been spending time on what I've been spending energy on, is not working, but I'm going to move through this. Instead of burning it all down. Instead of bitching that Instagram doesn't work like it used to do, and move through that obstacle to find out what does work. So I love this concept of marketing breakthroughs because we all have them but rarely do we get had a chance to sit back and really analyze Well, what was the last breakthrough that I had? And how can I push forward and hopefully, get another breakthrough? So that's what we're talking about today. So just to highlight some more notable breakthroughs that you might be familiar with, just to unlock our mind before we go into this conversation. Has anyone seen Connor prices? Spotify, YouTube, Tiktok. Instagram, your view? Connor price is amazing. I only recently discovered him Shelby knows him. And he's a Canadian rapper. But honestly, he's not that much better than any other young rapper out there. However, he decided he was going to break through the noise of the music industry. And instead of promoting his music in a typical way, like, Hey, guys, I just dropped a new song. No, no, no, Connor price doesn't do that. He creates these epic story videos that basically lead into the song playing in the background. And it's all about the story. It's all about the piece of content. And he has blown up all of his content on Tik Tok and social media is viral. His breakthrough was, if I just stand up and try to promote my rap, nobody's really listening. We're all inundated with advertising. Why don't I create storylines for each of my songs. And he is generating 10s of billions of downloads on Spotify and getting paid a lot for each of those streams. He's doing incredibly well.

So go check them out. A marketing breakthrough. I talk about this one all the time would be Pepsi, the company Pepsi. If you think back 20 years ago, you might have encountered the Pepsi taste challenge. This was a marketing breakthrough for them, their sales had actually plateaued. Coke was winning. And they decided to travel around North America with a Pepsi street team, and actually go up against their competitor and say, Here, Wendy, you try this, you try this tell us which one you like better. And people would sip the coke sip the Pepsi and a half to identify which one they preferred. Pepsi sales after 12 months of the Pepsi taste challenge skyrocketed. This was a marketing breakthrough for them. Again, a lot of things they were doing weren't working. The traditional advertising had plateaued them. Their breakthrough was in coming up with something completely different. Comparing themselves against the competition, which is crazy, but it's different, right?

Another marketing breakthrough, an amazing person that I've learned a lot from is someone named Dean Jackson, you might have heard of him before. Though, five, eight years ago, when everybody was starting to get into design forward emails, there was all these software's coming out like flow desk, and they were making emails really pretty. Which also took a lot of bandwidth for people to download them, but it was all like images and make curly fonts and add color to your email. Dean Jackson went to the other side.

And he's like, no, no, let's do nine word emails, plain texts, take away all the color, all the logos, take away the header, take away their footer, I guarantee you're gonna get a better response rate. It would literally just say, hey, Kelsey, are you thinking about buying a home in Toronto this year? That was it. I didn't even know who the email was from. This is what he calls the nine word email. This was a marketing breakthrough not only for Dean, but for all of his clients because they started sending them and everyone who sent them was getting response. So at the time, this was revolutionary, it was a breakthrough because everyone else was skewing towards design forward, rich text emails. Dean was bringing back simplicity, direct response marketing, no fluffs, no frills. Okay. So these will be examples of marketing breakthroughs. So I know a few of you inside of this group has have also had breakthroughs. I did ask everyone on slack so I thought we could get some conversation going so I pulled a few of them. When I asked in Slack, Wendy said speaking at events and word of mouth has been powerful. April said building relationships through DMS has been powerful. Emily Fraser has Been using many chat automation. So if I could pick on three of you, because these are all radically different marketing methods, right?

Speaking, Instagram, DMS, and then many chat automations. So all three very different April's is very much a one to one strategy. Emily Fraser's is a one to many, Wendy's is a one to many, but it involves her, you know, getting out and actually doing the speaking. So right here. And now, I hope we all realize that marketing is going to look different for all of us. And each of our breakthroughs is going to be different today. So first off, I would love to hear Wendy, are you open to coming on the mic? And just sharing what has speaking out events done for your business? And what have been some of the outcomes? Or why is this something that has worked for you? Thanks for tuning in to this episode of visionary life. I love bringing you these conversations on a weekly basis. So it would mean so much to me. If you could help me out by rating and reviewing the show on either iTunes or Spotify. It just takes a second. And if you don't want to rate the show, you could also just take a screenshot of the episode and share it on your social media platform of choice tagging me at Kelsey rival. I'll catch you in the next episode. Hey, visionary, I want to quickly interrupt this episode to ask you if you've been curious what it's like to work with a private business and marketing coach. If you're a business owner, and you feel like your marketing plan is all over the place, you haven't figured out your search engine optimization or your SEO strategy, you have no idea what your social media marketing plan is, and you are not doing so well on the self Express content front. I call these the marketing trio. It's the three S's SEO social media self expressed content. And by dialing in all three of these pillars, you too can get more visible, generate more income and increase your lead generation where you're actually turning your followers into paid clients and you're constantly bringing new people in at the top of the funnel. If you're not familiar with my work, I am a private business and marketing coach. And I have spent the last 13 years working in the marketing industry, many of those years doing consulting with clients like you who want to finally get more visible and get in front of their dream clients. So when we work together, you have me for four months, as your marketing partner, I'm going to do a full audit of your business, put you on a private project management software with me. And then based on your innate skill sets based on your strength, based on where you are curious and where your dream clients are paying attention.

We're going to build out a custom marketing strategy. We're going to track it, we're going to optimize it. And by the end of the four months, you have a plan that works and you're seeing results. It's truly incredible. Christina crook just landed a $100,000 consulting contract after implementing just one of my marketing strategies. Emily Fraser signed multiple new clients in one day after just one month of working with me. And now she is having consistent five figure months. And Natasha, she started leveraging her email list in December, and 30 days later in January, she pulled in $25,000 from one single email that we created. So these results are possible for you too. But don't sign up yet. Just had to Kelsey rydell.com And check out how we can work together learn all about it.
