Tell us more about your business
Calgary professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and families take everyday tasks and life admin off their plates.
I handle the things that take up valuable time and mental energy, from errands and appointments to organizing, scheduling, household tasks, and all the little things that need to get done but often don’t.
No two days look the same for me, which is one of the things I love most about what I do. My workday might involve coordinating appointments for one client, running errands for another, managing household logistics for a family, researching a trip, or helping a client tackle a long list of tasks. I work closely with my clients to understand what they need and take care of the details so they don’t have to.
Most of my clients find me through word of mouth, Google, ChatGPT, social media, and my website. Referrals have been especially meaningful because my business is built on trust. When someone recommends me to a friend, colleague, or family member, it means they trust me to take care of someone important to them.
In one or two sentences, what specific problem does your business solve for your clients?
I take the everyday tasks and life admin off busy Calgary professionals’ plates, giving them back valuable time and reducing their mental load. I make it easier for my clients to stay on top of everything without having to do it all themselves.
Recent milestone you’ve celebrated in your business?
One of the biggest milestones I’ve celebrated is reaching four years in business. I started Better Than A Bot in April 2022, and it’s been incredible to see how much the business has changed and grown since those early days.
I’ve been honoured to be named a Canadian Choice Award winner in both 2025 and 2026, and I’m currently being nominated for the 2027 award. More recently, I’ve also had the opportunity to be a guest on two podcasts, including Kelsey’s Rain or Shine Podcast, which has been an exciting way to share my story and connect with a wider audience.
Each of these milestones reminds me how far I’ve come and how grateful I am to the clients and community who have supported my journey.
What is a recent investment you’ve made in your business
A recent investment that has had a significant impact on my business has been working with Kelsey as my business coach. I reached a point where I felt stuck, wasn’t being as visible as I wanted to be, and was seeing the same results month after month.
Working with Kelsey has helped me get intentional about my growth, including tracking my monthly business metrics, attending more networking events, pitching myself for podcasts and media opportunities, and becoming more comfortable putting myself and my business out there.
Since working with her, I’ve been featured on Global News, appeared as a guest on podcasts, and have started having new clients find me through Google searches and even ChatGPT. The biggest impact has been realizing that growth doesn’t just happen, I have to actively create opportunities for it.
What changed after that investment? Why do you see it as an investment, not an expense?
Working with Kelsey changed the way I approach my business. I became more intentional about tracking my numbers, showing up consistently, creating opportunities for visibility, and putting myself out there in ways I hadn’t before.
It has led to media opportunities, podcast appearances, networking connections, and new clients finding me through Google and ChatGPT.
I see it as an investment rather than an expense because it has helped me grow both as a business owner and in the business itself.
I’m no longer sitting back wondering why things aren’t changing. I now have the tools in my toolbox to take action, measure what’s working, and create opportunities for Better Than A Bot to grow.
What would you tell a new entrepreneur who's considering investing in the same thing, but is hesitant?
The hesitation isn't about money. It's about walking into a room where you don't know anyone.
Everyone in there feels exactly the same. So walk in and let it be awkward. Ask what they do, what brought them there, how their week's been. Those three questions carry an entire event.
Don't worry about what people think of you. Being the wallflower in the corner is far more awkward than just saying hello.
And go for the people, not the leads. Rooms can tell the difference, and the business only follows when you're not chasing it.
Now for some fun stuff!
Always…
Always make time for yourself, even when life gets busy.
Never…
Never be ashamed to ask for help when you need it.
Advice for other entrepreneurs, who are slightly less far along…
Put yourself out there. Keep showing up, keep learning, and trust that the small steps you take today will lead to bigger opportunities down the road.
What is a tool, resource, podcast, book or person you’ve invested in that’s added value to your entrepreneurial journey
One of the most valuable investments I’ve made in my entrepreneurial journey has been getting to know other local entrepreneurs in Calgary and building a community around me. Entrepreneurship can sometimes feel lonely and isolating, so having people who understand what it’s like to build a business has been incredibly valuable. I’ve also focused on creating a trusted referral network of Calgary service providers I can confidently recommend to my clients when they need support beyond the scope of my services.
Favourite way to wind down after a long workweek
A solid nap on Saturday or Sunday afternoon!
Before starting my workday, I make sure to…
Get organized by reviewing my client notes and making sure I’m prepared for the day ahead. I also try to go for a walk if the weather is nice or use my walking pad if it’s not.
Best part of my work is…
The people I meet and the relationships I’ve built. The connections I’ve made through my business have been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
Last vacation you took (and where did you go)
The last vacation I took was to Tucson, Arizona, with my daughter to visit our lovely friends. We had the most wonderful time. I try to make a mother-daughter trip happen every one to two years, and I always look forward to that special time together. I don’t have photos to share from this trip, but the trip before that was to San Francisco to see Olivia Rodrigo live in concert, and it was truly magical!
