Living Visionary: Catching up with the incredible members of the Visionary Community!

Meet Lisa.

Founder of Lisa Koole Counselling

Welcome to Living Visionary!

In this series, I’ll be catching up with the incredible member of our Visionary Community from past and present.

This is a project that I started while I was on Maternity Leave (#VisionaryMama) with my first baby as a way to stay plugged in, inspired and rooted among the community of clients and students that I’ve supported over the last 10 years.

Enjoy, and if it feels appropriate please support their amazing businesses!

xx. Kels

Bio…

Lisa has been dedicated to the study of mind, body, and nutrition for more than a decade. Her passion for this work grew out of her own experience of struggling with her mental health during an especially stressful season of life. It was through this experience that she came to understand the powerful connection between mind, body, and emotions, and felt called to help others find healing and a greater sense of well-being.

As a Registered Psychotherapist, Holistic Nutritionist, and certified HeartMath practitioner, Lisa supports clients in reducing stress and anxiety, overcoming emotional eating, weight loss and building healthier relationships with themselves. She teaches her clients how to care for both their emotional and physical needs in nurturing, sustainable ways, equipping them with the tools to grow, build resilience, and create lasting transformation, so they can truly thrive in mind, body, and spirit.

Advice for other entrepreneurs, who are slightly less far along…

One of the most helpful things I’ve learned is the importance of finding community . Building a business can feel lonely at times, and having the right people around you makes all the difference.

I also encourage new entrepreneurs to be selective about who they listen to. The market is saturated with business coaches, and not all advice is grounded in experience or qualifications. Choose mentors and supports who truly align with your values and vision; it will save you both time and energy in the long run.

Tool, resource, podcast, book or person you’ve invested in that’s added value to your entrepreneurial journey

Tell us more about your business (what do you do, who do you help, what does your workday look like, how do people find out about you).

I help people who feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, weight loss or emotional eating and want to find healing that brings balance to both mind and body.

No two days look the same. Some days I’m meeting clients in person at my cozy office in Guelph, Ontario, other days I’m working with clients online from across Ontario.

In between sessions, there’s always lots happening behind the scenes: writing blogs, creating resources for my clients, connecting on social media, networking, continuing with ongoing training and learning to keep my qualifications current so I can bring the most effective approaches to support my clients.

A great day is one where I get to start the day by getting outside and moving my body, support clients in meaningful ways, spend time with my family and friends and reading!

Recent milestone you’ve celebrated in your business

A recent milestone I celebrated was reaching five years in private practice and expanding my services and moving back to in-person therapy one day a week.

Favourite way to wind down after a long workweek.

You’ll usually find me out walking in nature, snuggling up with my dog Finn, or reading a good book to recharge after a busy week.

Before starting my workday, I make sure to…

Before I start my work day I make sure to take a few quiet moments with my coffee, ground myself, and set an intention for how I want to show up.

Best part of my work is…

The best part of my work is seeing clients build confidence as they learn how to care for themselves in nurturing and sustainable ways. I feel grateful every day to support such amazing people in their growth and healing.

Tips for someone who is hesitant to follow their heart and start their own business?

Starting your own business can feel both exciting and scary.

My best advice is to connect with people who have already done what you want to do and learn from their experiences. And just as importantly, make sure you have strong support systems in place; it makes the journey less overwhelming.

Last vacation you took (and where did you go)…

The most recent vacation I took was with my family to Vancouver and Whistler, BC. It was a wonderful chance to spend time outdoors and enjoy being with the people I love most … though I’m not sure what I was thinking, since the mountains aren’t exactly ideal for someone afraid of heights!”

Bucket list vacation that you hope to embark on in the next 5 years (where to and why?)

On my bucket list is a trip to Italy, or really anywhere in Europe for the scenery and the food.
