Living Visionary: Catching up with the incredible members of the Visionary Community!

In this series, I’ll be catching up with the incredible member of our Visionary Community from past and present.

This is a project that I started while I was on Maternity Leave (#VisionaryMama) with my first baby as a way to stay plugged in, inspired and rooted among the community of clients and students that I’ve supported over the last (almost) 8 years.

Enjoy, and if it feels appropriate please support their amazing businesses!

Bio…

Melanie Killens is a habit and accountability coach who supports women in midlife as they rebuild self trust, reconnect with their bodies, and create sustainable change that actually sticks. Through her signature blend of mindset work, mobility, and simple daily habits, Melanie helps women move out of the all or nothing cycle and into a life that feels grounded, doable, and aligned with who they’re becoming.

After teaching and living overseas, including Singapore & China, Melanie returned to Canada and built Move Well with Melanie, a community centered coaching practice rooted in real life, real stories, and real conversations. Her work is shaped by the belief that growth doesn’t happen through perfection; it happens through showing up as you are, stacking small wins, and letting yourself evolve one honest step at a time.

Melanie is known for her steady, down to earth coaching style and her ability to make women feel seen, capable, and supported. She blends movement, reflection, and mindset into a practical approach that fits into the busiest seasons of life. Her programs include habit and accountability coaching, mobility sessions, community events, and online challenges that bring women together in connection and momentum.

Whether she’s coaching one to one, leading a mobility class, or guiding her online community, Melanie’s mission is simple: help women build habits that last, feel strong and connected in their bodies, and create the version of themselves they’ve been working toward, one small win at a time.

Always…

Always show up authentically, even if it’s messy or uncertain.

That honesty is what creates real change, real momentum, and the real connections we’re all craving.

Never…

Never pretend you have it all figured out, you’re not supposed to.

Give yourself permission to be exactly where you are and let that be enough to start. Share that with the world, we need more honesty.

Advice for other entrepreneurs, who are slightly less far along…

Start your business from wherever you are. You don’t need to have a plan, you just need to decide you’re willing to figure things out as you go.

Get support early. Hire the coach, join the community, or find the person who will keep you accountable. That structure is what helps you build the habits, the confidence, and the follow through you don’t have yet.

You don’t need certainty, you need to get uncomfortable. And when that happens, keep going, because when uncertainty and that uncomfortable feeling show up, you know you’re on the right path.

Tool, resource, podcast, book or person you’ve invested in that’s added value to your entrepreneurial journey

Investing in LONG term coaching has been the best investment I have ever made. It holds me accountable when I am committed for a long period of time financially.

Tell us more about your business (what do you do, who do you help, what does your workday look like, how do people find out about you).

I help women in midlife build simple, sustainable habits they can actually stick to, through accountability, coaching, and mobility work that fits real life.

Most women find me through my website, Instagram, my Facebook community, or word of mouth from clients who’ve worked with me.

My days usually start with training sessions at a local gym, then coaching check ins and client support, teaching in the afternoons, and ending my day connecting with friends and family.

My business is built on real conversations, real routines, and helping women show up for themselves in a way that feels doable and honest.

Recent milestone you’ve celebrated in your business?

I have six clients signed up for 3 month coaching packages! That is incredible!

Favourite way to wind down after a long workweek.

Having dinner with my family, getting the kids to bed for an early bedtime and watching a show or reading a book with my husband. Then getting an early bedtime myself.

Before starting my workday, I make sure to…

Exercise! Lift heavy weights or go for a run, or get in a flexibility and mobility session.

Best part of my work is…

Connecting with my clients. It is my favourite part of the day.

Bucket list vacation that you hope to embark on in the next 5 years (where to and why?)

Backpacking trip in Ireland. I wish I had some great story why, but I don’t. I have just always wanted to go, hike small town to small town and truly enjoy the scenery.
