Kristen Parise (BSc MSc BHScPT) is a pelvic health physiotherapist with over 25 years of

clinical experience and the founder of Blueberry Therapy Pelvic Health & Pediatrics, a

She holds an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor position at McMaster University, hosts The Hole Shebang podcast, and created The Pleasure Principle, a continuing education conference for healthcare professionals that has sold out two years running.

Kristen also coaches clinic owners through The Bottom Line, teaching them to run their businesses on real numbers instead of guesswork, with AI doing the heavy lifting. Tell us more about your business

Blueberry Therapy is a multidisciplinary pelvic health and pediatrics clinic. We treat bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction, and we do it with 31 people across physiotherapy, medicine, counselling and more, because pelvic floor issues rarely show up alone and a body deserves more than one lens on it.

My own workday has changed shape over the past year. I still see existing clients two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the rest of my time goes into the parts of the business only I can do: teaching, creating and building. That might mean recording a podcast episode, coaching a clinic owner through The Bottom Line, working on the next Pleasure Principle conference, or sitting with our team on a clinical case. I am in the process of pulling myself out of day-to-day clinical work entirely and handing that reclaimed time to teaching one to many instead of treating one to one, because that is where I can help the most people.

Most people find their way to me through someone who already knows me. That is especially true of The Pleasure Principle, our annual conference: colleague referral beats Instagram, email and the podcast combined as the way people hear about it. My guess is the same is true of the clinic itself, most new pediatric and pelvic health referrals still come from another provider or a client who told a friend. The podcast and Instagram do real work too, but the trust gets built the old way first.

In one or two sentences, what specific problem does your business solve for your clients?

I help people whose bladder, bowel or sex life stopped working the way it used to find out exactly what is going on and what to do next, in plain language, without shame.

I help clinic and small business owners get off gut-feel and onto real numbers, using AI to do the heavy lifting so they can grow without hiring a whole ops team to get there.

Recent milestone you’ve celebrated in your business?

This year has been stacked with milestones. Blueberry just turned nine and has grown to a team of 30, The Hole Shebang Podcast hit 100 episodes this summer, and The Pleasure Principle sold out again.

Then in August, I flipped The Bottom Line, the business coaching program I built for clinic owners, fully live: a short audit now turns into a personal, AI-built readout within two business days, the whole pipeline tested end to end and now running on its own.

Next stop is May 14, 2027, when our next conference becomes the launch point for The Bottom Line's next chapter.

What is a recent investment you’ve made in your business

The investment that changed the most for me was joining an AI mastermind, Uncommon Leaders, and going through their Automate to Accelerate program with my mentor Callan Faulkner. It started before that, actually, in my women's mentorship group in early 2025.

I was drowning, planning the first Pleasure Principle conference with contracts, speakers, vendors, a marketing plan and a team all moving at once, and Callan came in as a guest and showed me a single AI project that could hold every piece of it. That one afternoon is the reason I invested further and joined her program properly.

I was 25 years into clinical practice and had never touched anything like this. I just knew I could not keep running a growing business off sticky notes and my own memory.

What changed after that investment? Why do you see it as an investment, not an expense?

Everything downstream of that decision changed. I went from guessing at my numbers to building actual systems: a business coaching program with a real audit and an AI-written readout, an Instagram dashboard that tells me the truth instead of my gut, a morning brief that hands me my day instead of me hunting for it.

One of my coaching clients, Sandra, guessed most of her referrals came from Instagram. When we pulled her real data, web search made up 44 percent of them and Instagram was under 1 percent. That gap between guess and data is exactly why I call this an investment.

It kept paying me back in decisions I no longer had to make blindly, and it is what let me take the exact systems I already use to run my own business every day and turn them into The Bottom Line, so other clinic owners can stop getting lost in the details and finally see the forest for the trees.

What would you tell a new entrepreneur who's considering investing in the same thing, but is hesitant?

If you are hesitant, I would tell you that you do not need to be technical, and you do not need to understand how any of it works under the hood. I still do not. What you need is one real problem in your business that is costing you time, money or peace of mind, and thirty minutes with someone who can show you what is possible.

Do not try to build the whole system on day one. I built The Bottom Line in pieces, over months, testing each part before I trusted it enough to open it up. The version of you that is waiting to feel ready is going to wait a long time. Begin with the one problem in front of you.

I would tell every entrepreneur to invest in their own growth through mentorship, and to be deliberate about who is in the room with you. Surround yourself with people a stage ahead of where you want to be, and with people who are strong exactly where you are weak, marketing, the legal side, your own mindset, whatever it is. That kind of investment in yourself is what moves the business forward, not money walking out the door.

Now for some fun stuff!

Always…

Always say the actual word for what is going on in someone's body. Vulva, prolapse, incontinence, orgasm, whatever it is. The whispering is what keeps people stuck, not the condition.

Never…

Never let someone leave a room feeling smaller than when they walked in, whether that is a patient, a clinician I am training, or a business owner in a coaching session. If they did not understand something, that is on me, not on them.

Advice for other entrepreneurs, who are slightly less far along…

Build your team before you build your empire. I spent years doing everything myself because I thought that was what commitment looked like, and it nearly broke me. Hire for values first and skill second, you can teach skill.

And when a decision makes your stomach drop instead of lift, that is information. Learn to notice the difference between the pull toward something real and the push of an obligation you only think you should feel. That single skill will save you more time than any system I could hand you.

What is a tool, resource, podcast, book or person you’ve invested in that’s added value to your entrepreneurial journey

Claude, the AI tool, and the person who taught me to use it, Callan Faulkner. She showed me my first AI project in early 2025 while I was drowning in conference logistics, and it changed how I run every part of my business, from client coaching to content to the way I plan my own week.

It did not replace how I think or how I sound. It just gave me somewhere to put all of it so I could actually use it.

Favourite way to wind down after a long workweek

A walk after dinner most nights, with no phone in my hand, and a workout with my S Club girls whenever I can get one in. Movement is the fastest way I know to get back into my body after a day spent mostly in my head, and sweating and laughing with those women has been my saviour more times than I can count.

Before starting my workday, I make sure to…

I move. Coffee, a walk, weights, something that gets me out of my head before I open my laptop.

If I skip it, I can feel the difference in how I show up for the rest of the day: less patient, less clear, more reactive. So it does not get skipped.

Best part of my work is…

The moment someone says the actual word out loud for the first time is the whole reason I do any of this: a patient finally naming what is wrong with her own body, a physiotherapist I am training asking the question they had been too embarrassed to ask, a clinic owner looking at their real numbers instead of guessing at them.

You can watch it land on someone's face, the exact second something they had been avoiding becomes something they can hold onto.

Last vacation you took (and where did you go)

A week-long hiking trip through Portugal with my dear friend Louise, tracing the Algarve coast from Faro toward Portimao and staying in the kind of small fishing villages you only find by actually walking into them. We hiked about five hours a day, then spent the evenings eating food I still think about and talking to people I never would have met from a resort pool. I planned the whole trip using an AI project: flights, accommodation, and a hiking outfitter based out of Ireland that took us through Portugal. I would do the entire trip again exactly as it was.

Louise and I have known each other since 1999, more than half my life at this point, and there is something about a week of shared purpose, walking toward the same destination every single day, that goes deeper than a normal trip. I came home knowing I want more of that specific kind of travel: days with an actual reason behind them, not just time off.
