Here’s how I have connected with 10 new clients in the last 10 weeks.

When it comes to finding new clients, there's no one-size-fits-all solution.


For some people, networking might be the key. Others might find success with online marketing like list building and email newsletter campaigns. The important thing is to remain flexible and open to new possibilities and opportunities as they arise!


The truth is, your clients are in a number of different spaces and places, and it is your job to identify where that is so that you can spend time building relationships within those communities.


You've probably experienced challenge and hard work required to land new clients, but you also have a burning desire to help more and more people.


I've put together a list of 10 strategies that you can use to find 10 new clients in as little as 10 days. These strategies have been proven to work, so you can start seeing results fast.



1. Change Your Mindset From ‘How Do I Get Clients’ to ‘How Can I Help’


Anytime I come to my workday with a desperate energy, one that has me feeling that I need to do things to ‘get clients’ I will pause and recalibrate to ensure that my main goal is to add value to people and to build genuine relationships.


Trying to ‘get clients’ just feels icky and gives me the impression that I’m trying to hunt people down and convince them they need my services. Yuck!


Anytime I focus on what I can get from someone, it takes me away from my purpose. However, when I remember my why - which is to help others - everything falls into place. I am able to show up as my authentic self and give people the support they need to thrive, which leads to a rush of applications and interest.


2. Ask for Referrals from your Existing Clients

Recently I was promoting a brand new Implementation Workshop that I was teaching called Become Fully Booked (you can check it out here).


I was posting on Social Media, Sending Emails and Running Podcast Ads - but what I really wanted was referrals from my existing clients. However, I never ASKED for the referral.


So, 3 days before the workshop I posted a 3:00 minute video inside of our private Visionary Method Slack Channel asking for my clients to share about the workshop if they feel aligned with the message. I also equipped them with a $100 promo code for their audiences!


The referrals from my existing clients resulted in 2 discovery calls within 72 hours.


Never underestimate the power of a referral from your clients!


3. Post a “Poll” on your Instagram Stories to collect Interest

The most under-utilized client acquisition strategy on Social Media is the Instagram Stories Poll Feature.


If you’re not familiar, Polls look like this.


I use the Polls feature at least 3x each week (always on Sunday’s since that is when I get high viewership) and I will ask questions that collect interest.


Questions like…


  • Are you planning to Launch a Business before 2022 comes to an end? (YOU BET or YES BUT I NEED HELP!)

  • Do you feel super overwhelmed when it comes to Marketing your Business? (I REALLY DO or SOOOO OVERWHELMED)

  • Are you hoping to have a Sold Out Launch before the year is over? (HECK YA or 100%)


I will normally make each answer positive so that no matter which one they push it shows me that the person is interested.


Check back on your poll after 24 hours and then send a personalized voice memo to each person who responded. The goal is to learn more about their goals and then to share how you can help!


4. Host a Free Masterclass

Instead of convincing your clients to work with you, invite them into a virtual or in-person workshop or masterclass with you!


This is a great chance for you to impress your clients with your expertise and to teach them about a concept they might not be familiar with.


As long as this masterclass is relevant to your paid offer, you can share an application at the end of the workshop where they can apply to work with you.


Inside of The Visionary Method I share samples of how I deliver my pitches in a gentle and nurturing way, without being pushy. It’s resulted in many applications coming through within moments of me finishing the masterclass.


5. Send Creative Follow Ups + Fun Messages

One of the best pieces of advice that I ever received was that ‘you can’t bore people into working with you’.


I couldn’t agree more!


Most business owners are sending dry follow up emails, annoying messages to people’s Instagram DM’s and ruthless amounts of promotions and wordy messages that simply get ignored!


So, what can you do instead?


Send something creative!


I love to snap custom photos of myself holding up a sticky note with a hand-written message on it, record a video message, or create clever “there’s no way you can NOT respond to this” messages that make my clients laugh or smile.


I share all of these templates inside of The Visionary Method and with my clients.


6. Amp Up Your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Google Searchability


Many of the applications that I receive for Private Business and Marketing Coaching clients are a direct result of the effort I have put into boosting my Searchability and Key Search Terms over the past few years.


When people type ‘Toronto Business Coach’ into Google, they see me,

When people type in ‘Marketing Coach in Canada’ in Google, they see me.


This is all intentional!


I also make an effort to post 1 blog post every single week that leverages my Key Search Terms and the helps me maintain my positions in the ranks.


Many of my clients find me through a simple Google Search, and I love that it doesn’t involve me being on Social Media 24/7 marketing my services.


I would highly suggest that everyone get started on their SEO strategy right away. This is something I teach inside of The Visionary Method.


7. Leverage your Existing Content


I’ve been hosting the Visionary Life Podcast for the past 4.5 years and have recorded over 250 episodes, but for many years I wasn’t doing a great job at leveraging the existing content.


Today, I re-release episodes from the archives and add in new advertisements that promote my own products and services! This allows me to keep me content fresh, will saving time.


*I use a method called Dynamic Ad Insertion which allows me to change the ads on all 250 episodes at one time. It’s really helpful for all podcasters but it is quite costly!


8. Share ‘Points of Connection’ When Marketing Your Services


Sales are made through conversations with potential clients. And conversations are started through various triggers.


Something that I’ve identified as a key trigger to booking more sales calls with clients is by sharing what I call ‘points of connection’ throughout my social media and content marketing plan.


I share stories of my adventures on a Mountain Bike so that other Bikers can connect with me.


I share stories of my rescue pup and how she’s the best colleague ever, so that other Dog Owners can connect with me.


I share lessons from our camping trips into Algonquin Park where we sleep in tents, go fishing, and have no cell reception so that other outdoorsy people can relate to me.


You get the point!


The more that I share, the more the connections are made. And the connections often lead to paid relationships.

9. Give Your Clients Social Media Shout-outs (aka Content that THEY can re-post on their accounts)


One of the easiest ways to get in front of new audiences is for you to create content that tags people, so that they can reshare.


In this day in age, almost all business owners are looking for content to share on their many social media profiles - and if you can selflessly create interesting content that makes them look good, they will re-post it on their accounts.


If their accounts have 200, 500 or 10,000 followers that means that you just got put in front of a lot of new people!

10. Create and Post More Video Content


Each time I create video content I see my engagements soar compared to when I post static images.


My platform of choice is Instagram Stories because I make a lot of true connections by posting content and by engaging with others content.


I send at least 10 random DM’s per day to my network, and I aim to post between 3 and 15 stories on my own feed each day. On Sunday’s I share even more because that’s when I get the most engagement.


Bonus Tip - Update your Instagram Bio to connect with MORE Clients!

Does somebody who is new to your feed know immediately what problem you solve and for what type of person?


If the answer is no, then you can simply tweak your Social Media Bio’s in order to gain more followers and convert more clients.


Make sure that your bio is a mixture of words and phrases that:

  • Describe why you’re an authorative figure or why someone should trust you (aka phD in Ketogenic Diet or Design Teacher at M.I.T)

  • Share what type of content your followers can expect (aka I tweet about Marketing and Consumer Behaviour)

  • Is a call to action (aka Download my 7 prompts for Writer’s Block)

A simple shift to your bio can radically improve how clearly your audience sees you.
