Living Visionary: Catching up with the incredible members of the Visionary Community!

In this series, I’ll be catching up with the incredible member of our Visionary Community from past and present.

This is a project that I started while I was on Maternity Leave (#VisionaryMama) with my first baby as a way to stay plugged in, inspired and rooted among the community of clients and students that I’ve supported over the last (almost) 8 years.

Enjoy, and if it feels appropriate please support their amazing businesses!

xx. Kels

Bio…

Meg Gerber RD, LDN, IFNCP, CGN is a Functional Medicine Dietitian, Breath Work & Meditation Teacher and Founder of Grounded Nourishment (a private virtual nutrition practice).

She is also the co-founder of JÜJ Digestive Bitters. Meg specializes in supporting those struggling with chronic digestive issues via a holistic approach that goes beyond the individualized nutrition to acknowledge the “elephant” in everyone's room - STRESS.

Stress can lead to a broken digestive system. While 'we are what we eat’ is a common refrain in the nutrition world, Meg expands this statement to instead ‘‘We are what we DIGEST and ABSORB'.

This foundational pillar of her practice and health philosophy lead her to prioritize tools that go beyond the food alone to optimize digestion like mindful eating, mealtime breath work and bitters. It was only natural then, that she curate JÜJ digestive bitters, a uniquely formulated, gluten free digestive bitters that optimizes digestion while also bringing more joy to the social experience of sober curiosity and drinking.

Advice for other entrepreneurs, who are slightly less far along…

Tapping into what makes you uniquely you is of the utmost importance! Instead of focusing on comparison (the true thief of joy!) and what other people do, focus on your superpower - what differentiates you from the rest! AND, how can you bring the most value to the world by letting that part of you shine?

Tool, resource, podcast, book or person you’ve invested in that’s added value to your entrepreneurial journey

Money mindset books like Happy Pocket Full of Money & Money Magic have been game changers for me as a business owner! I am also hugely a big fan of investing in business coaches when the timing is right and the person feels aligned with my business during that particular season.

Tell us more about your business (what do you do, who do you help, what does your workday look like, how do people find out about you).

I am a functional medicine dietitian who helps stressed but motivated women struggling with chronic bloat, IBS and constipation finally find resolve for their symptoms without focusing on restrictive diets or supplements alone.

I am also the co-founder of a digestive bitters company called JÜJ.  I typically see clients Tuesday - Friday and dedicate my mornings to filling up my own cup - some sort of movement (walking/strength training/yoga/pilates) and stillness (breathwork/meditation) along with a self connection or compassion mantra. I definitely benefit from a slower, me-focused, work-email-free morning and then start my day!

I typically work on things for my other company, JÜJ bitters on Mondays or after clients on other days. Oftentimes, I get connected with people through referrals or my instagram.

Recent milestone you’ve celebrated in your business?

Launch of a food product! (JÜJ at the end of last year)

Favourite way to wind down after a long workweek.

Having a JÜJ bitters mocktail and home cooked dinner with my partner, having a slower, unstructured morning, attending a seated meditation or breath work at my local yoga studio and spending time hiking in nature.

Before starting my workday, I make sure to…

Fill up my own cup! I do some variation of movement, breath work and/or meditation along with a full breakfast every morning!

Best part of my work is…

I get to help people heal in a lasting way where they are reminded of their own healing tools within.

Tips for someone who is hesitant to follow their heart and start their own business?

We are only here on earth for a finite amount of time - why not shoot your shot? AND, what if failure wasn’t the story you told yourself if things don’t go a certain way - what if it was about it all being a learning experience and a growth opportunity!?

Last vacation you took (and where did you go)…

Skiing in Utah with my family!

Bucket list vacation that you hope to embark on in the next 5 years (where to and why?)

Greece! I have been dying to go for the views and the food!
